They told us that this new world was perfect
They told us that we were all equal under the eyes of the only God
They told me that I was nothing
He told me that he would protect me
They swear that I can trust them
I don't
How can I believe in something, in a world where faith isn't optional?
The Given Garden is Book #1 in The Eden Chronicles, and is set six hundred years after Armageddon, where Utopia is the goal, but chaos is the result. Larkin had no choice to be an illegal third-born child, so does that mean that she should give her life to the crown in penance? And if so, can trust that she will find a friend in Prince Kohen Barachiel, and not a Nephilim master? The kingdom is in his family's hands, her life in his, the clock is ticking until god's return, and Satan is watching, waiting for her moment to strike back.

The Review

One of my latest favorite authors is SK Munt.  I reviewed another one of her series on this blog a few months ago. She really has a flair for weaving a tale.

They given series is no exception. I started the series on Thursday and just finished it today.  I now have a book hangover.

As you know from my last Review, I have a thing lately for dystopian novels. Ironically I didn’t pick up this set of books because of the genre. I picked it up because of the author.

This series is based off of a world that existed after God wiped out the former existence. It has a very interesting perspective as to what angels would do in order to re-create the world. However this series is set thousands of years after that I had already happened and the current existing has enough alone people who are their rulers.

The romance in this series is very steamy. The main character was raised to be a “companion” to a prince. So, if you have any issues with sex scenes, this is not a good series for you to read. That being said those scenes while very well written, they are a small slice of the whole story.

I became very entrenched in the entire story and its characters. I am devastated that the next novel is not complete. I will be waiting  impatient me for the next one to come out.

Summary

The exciting second part of the epic novel, The Given Garden
With her sixteenth birthday fast approaching, Larkin has a choice to make- to follow her heart, or to follow her head? Well... she thinks she has a choice to make. She prays that she will have a choice to make. But nothing is as it seems to be in Eden, and free will is in the eye of the beholder.

Summary

Tick tock
The time for my release is approaching
But my hopes of making it out of here as a free woman are diminishing with every passing second.
Men can do beautiful things in the name of God or love- I've seen it.
But they can do evil things for the same reasons too.
And those who suffer not from love, but obsession? They're capable of the most heinous acts.
And all a girl, who is the source for both conditions- love and obsession alike- is pray that someone- anyone- is watching over her.
That someone is guiding them.
That one person in this world will put her needs before their own.
I'm not hopeful that someone is watching over me.
But I am praying.
Every day.
In Book #2 in the True Eden Chronicles, sixteen year-old Larkin Whittaker has a choice to make, a risk to take, a heart to give away- and the repercussions of all of the above to live with after. She knows that if she stays focused and untouchable, that she could end up living the life that she's dreamt of, since Kohl Barachiel first introduced her to romance novels… But she also knows that there's something, some force inside Eden or within herself, that is blackening the Barachiel men's pristine souls, and forcing them to each tighten their grip on hers.
One of them is destined to crush her, but which one? The one who holds her hand, her heart- or her contract? Only time, and strength of character, will tell. In fact, the only thing that she does know for sure, is that only a miracle will be able to extricate her from paradise unharmed now.

About S.K. Munt

I write BIG stories and thrive on drama, passion, heat and above all else, sentimentality. I have a thing for love-triangles and though my love scenes could be classified as erotica, there is so much more to my stories than the romance, and that you can count on! I love writing from all perspectives and alternating characters, male and female, and I love slipping in plot twists you won’t see coming!

Thank you for the time you invest in reading my novels, and I hope I can make it worth your while and a smile 🙂
